A restrained budget needed to include for re-decoration to the level of detail not often seen today. A particular emphasis of the alterations was to ensure that the colours blended with the expectations of today, while fusing with the materials and features of a by-gone era.

The final details were worked through with Heritage New Zealand to ensure the building’s listing was not compromised, and the extensions and alterations blend seamlessly with the original work.
